“Had dinner here with friends on Saturday night. We all had different starters and main courses and each dish was perfectly cooked and very very tasty. Great ambience as always and staff all lovely and attentive.”
Husband and wife team Marek and Magda Michalak fell in love in Perth – and with Cafe Tabou – more than a decade ago and bought the business from the previous having worked with them for a number of years. The ownership and management team was strengthened by the arrival of locally-based businessman Derek Petterson to help develop the business in 2013.
While Magda handles front-of-house duties, Marek is proud to be the first Polish-born Master Chef of Great Britain, an accolade which followed on from being inducted to the Master Chef Association in his native Poland.
An impressive CV also includes a Master Butcher qualification - with merit - which explains why the range of prime Scotch beef on offer at Cafe Tabou is so extensive and of such a high quality.
Derek, who has built-up a string of successful businesses, was a regular diner before investing in Cafe Tabou.
He explains: “I have other licensed trade interests, but love eating at Cafe Tabou. The city centre bistro has an intimate, welcoming atmosphere and Marek and his kitchen team create dishes which ensure local customers return time and time again in addition to delighting the many visitors to Perth.”
Some 3 years on since Derek joined, the business and the partnership has blossomed; the individuals complimenting each other with the capabilities and experience brought to the team whilst Café Tabou as a business has continued to prosper and grow and enjoy national acclaim with a series of significant award wins.
"We were Group of five motorcyclists touring the highlands after a long day in the saddle this place was a gem of a find. Seafood starters and steak main and several bottles of the house red, which is excellent by the way. The biggest suprise was how good value it was come bill time. First rate Thank you."
